ard Avonberry learned photographic arts not only from his namesake father, he also studied under and assisted world renowned photographers James Wood (USC, Pasadena College of Design, Executive Director, School of Photography, AAU San Francisco) and Peter Gowland (Rolling Stone, Playboy, and more than 1000 other magazine covers.) He also worked with celebrated celebrity portraitist Ian Miles (Cosmopolitan, Elle, New York and Los Angeles.)
Avonberry now brings more than twenty years of advertising photography experience to his studio and location projects, mostly gained in Los Angeles. Besides his home city, however, he has produced and directed photo shoots and commercials in New York, Chicago, Las Vegas, Miami, Aspen, New Orleans, and Hawaii, as well as international shoots in the Caribbean, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Peru, and New Zealand.
While still a student, he became an accomplished professional musician and Technosonic Recording Artist with the band “Viscounts.” And, he gained on-air broadcast and production experience at WCIL Radio (weekly program Host), WSIU-TV, a PBS affiliate, and WSIL-TV, an ABC Network affiliate, in Illinois.
In between, he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronics Engineering (with a Minor in Commercial Art) and a Masters Degree in Business. After graduating he became a Space Launch Engineer for the US Government at Vandenberg AFB, CA (and engineering support at Cape Canaveral, FL) launching more than twenty rockets, missiles and satellites.
